We’ll Build $200M Chamber – Blay Insists
National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddie Blay, has said the idea of getting a new Parliamentary enclave valued at an amount of $200 million should not be completely discarded simply because of the controversy and backlash it has generated.
“Maybe we need to as it is, analyse it, interrogate it, and see the way forward if not today it will be tomorrow. It will have to happen,” Mr. Blay noted in an interaction with journalists.
The NPP Chair admitted that the communication and packaging of the entire discussion on the need for a new Parliamentary chamber with adjoining facilities could have been better handled.
He said it however does not mean that the prudent idea of the need for the facility should be completely disregarded and avoided.
Meanwhile there are reports that Parliament has begun a campaign dubbed: ‘It’s our Parliament #Letstalkmore’. The campaign is targeted at resurrecting the dialogue on the construction of controversial $200 million new parliamentary enclave.
The new Chamber, with a sitting capacity of about 450 Members of Parliament, would house other facilities including diplomatic offices, a library, a museum, a church, a mosque, eateries, press conference rooms, galleries, a car park, an upper gallery garden, a post office and other facilities to complete the Parliamentary enclave.
