“Who Is Ga King?” – Dr Lawrence Tetteh Questions
Rev Dr Lawrence Tetteh of the Worldwide Outreach Church has lamented the lack of proper kinship systems in the Ga land, and blamed the absence of peace among the people on the ‘installation’ of too many kings.
According to him, because of the countless installations and destoolments, it gets confusing to the outside world, as to whom to pay homage to during festivities such as the Homowo.
He said this at the durbar of the RCL Pilolo Ga Homowo Trade Carnival held in Accra on Friday.
“Is it true that all the people we see as kings are kings? Who is our king?” Dr Tetteh quizzed, and lamented that it was embarrassing for the Ga people to be going through such a system.
The Evangelist admitted that being a Ga himself, he was inclined to be interested in the festivities but was saddened by the fetish ideology associated with the festivities.
“The Gas do not realise the blessing God has given to us by giving us the sea, but have turned to give the Lord’s praises to lesser gods”, he remarked, and admonished the people to turn back to their God.
He advised that people accept the spirit of togetherness and stop the divisiveness caused by the quest for power, be it political or ethnic.
The durbar saw in attendance Alhaji Adams Braimah (a Muslims chief), Pastor Ishmael Tetteh of the Brain Mission Church, foreigners and members of the general public.
Also at the durbar were traders who had displayed wares such as food, clothes, beads, footwear among others.
