Willi Roi Laid To Rest
The news of the death of Kwasi Wilson popularly known as Willi Roi broke in the late hours of February 10, 2019, Sunday specifically at his apartment at East Legon, Accra with blood oozing from his mouth and noise.
Before one could have a verification of the news, all venue of social media, Whatsapp, Facebook and Twitter were on high spread about the sudden death.
There was not much information beyond the fact that, he was found dead in his room at the Zylofon Art Complex and taken to the morgue.
Just that, for someone who had been very vociferous on the airwaves not long ago and had dominated headlines with his views on issues, it was pretty sad news to hear.
The engineer, producer, keyboardlist and musician turned entertainment pundit, Artiste and Reportoire(A&R) Manager for Zylofon Arts Club, Willi Roi was very controversial in his public utterances which many attested to the fact.
Until his death, he didn’t hide his unconditional love for musician Shatta Wale, he slammed anyone who had a different idea about the business of Zylofon and Menzgold during public discussions.
However as tradition demands, the final funeral rites for him was held last Saturday at the Valco Employees Recreational Arena (VERA), Community 4, Tema.
The ceremony started with a solemn burial service that was witnessed by family, friends, musicians, Zylofon staff and sympathizers who had gathered at the venue.
Notable among them were officials of the Ghana Music Right Owners (GHAMRO) led by its chairman Rex Omar; Charles Amoah, Oheneba Kissi, King Ayisoba, Daddy Bosco, among others.
The 40 years’ experience man in the showbiz industry worked with African music legends including Femi Kuti, Sunny Ade, Sunny Okussuns, Daddy Lumba and groomed talents on the Zylofon Arts Club among others.
