We’re winning, stay calm – Gabby to NPP sympathizers
Party Stalwart Gabby Asare-Otchere Darko has assured sympathizers of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to stay calm whilst awaiting final declaration from the Electoral Commission saying it’s a must win for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
According to him, no one should be cowed into believing that the election will be going into a run off because the data collated points to the fact that the NPP is leading.
“My projection: NPP will decide on the next Speaker of Parliament and First Deputy Speaker. An NPP President will form the next government and there shall be no run-off. So says the certified data from the polling stations” he made this known in a Facebook post.
Over 17 million Ghanaians headed to the polls yesterday, Monday, December 7, 2020, to decide whether or not the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, will be Ghana’s President for another four-year term.
President Akufo-Addo is facing keen competition from the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, who served as Ghana’s President from 2012 to 2016.
Apart from Akufo-Addo and Mahama, there are 10 other candidates in the presidential race.
Yesterday’s election also helped Ghanaians elect their Members of Parliament.
Voting took place in 38,622 polling stations in the 275 constituencies across the country, as compared to 33,000 polling stations in the 2016 elections.
