The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama, has warned the Jean Mensa led electoral commission to desist from attempting to steal the elections in favour of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Addressing party sympathizers, Mr Mahama also debunked suggestions on social media that he had conceded defeat to the NPP flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
“I state emphatically and firmly that I have not congratulated anybody. We will resist any attempt to steal this elections. It is clear the Ghanaian people want a change in this country. Ghanaians are tired of Akufo-Addo and his government. We’ve won in 10 regions out of 16 and Ghanaians have expressed their confidence in us” he said.
The former President also accused President Akufo-Addo of using the military in an attempt to change results in the Techiman constituency after a scuffle led to the shooting of two people.
“Some of what is happening is unacceptable and Nana Akufo-Addo continues to show credentials that are undemocratic. You cannot use the military to overturn the results in constituencies that we have won, and so we will resist any attempt to subvert the sovereign will of the people.”
