THE ASHANTI Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka ‘Wontumi’, is up in arms against the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
According to him, unstable power supply by the ECG, which has been rampant across the Ashanti Region lately, has led to the destruction of his expensive television set.
Virtually brimming with rage over the misfortune, the NPP chieftain threatened to lead a massive demonstration on the streets of Kumasi against the ECG if the blackouts continued.
“My television set has been destroyed due to the unstable power supply in the Ashanti Region lately and if it continues that way then I will lead a massive demonstration against the ECG”.
Wontumi, who sounded very angry and panting for breadth even as he spoke, alleged that the rampant power outbreaks was a calculated attempt by some people to discredit the NPP government.
According to him, power supply in the city and for that the Ashanti Region, was stable and good, therefore he is surprised about the sudden change is things as the elections draws closer.
“This clearly is a sabotage by some people to make the NPP government become unpopular and lose votes during the presidential and parliamentary elections and I shall not accept that.
“The GRIDCO and ECG bosses in the Ashanti Region should read my lips, they should sit up and stop the power outages, else they will hear from me soon”, He warned on Wontumi Television.
According to him, the leadership of the ECG and GRIDCO are in their position to serve the people but not to torment them with rampant power outages, vowing to take drastic action.
The Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman said it was time the public should sue the ECG for taking the light without prior announcement, reiterating that he would not accept any sabotage by the ECG.
