Wontumi, MP Fight Over $4.5M Mansion
THERE IS, what can be likened to, a tug-of-war between two leading members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti region, over a plush mansion at Daaban in Kumasi.
Bernard Antwi Boasiako, aka ‘Wontumi’, Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, is fiercely battling it out with the party’s Member of Parliament (MP) for Bantama Constituency, Daniel Okyem Aboakye.
While Wontumi claims he purchased the mansion in question from one Ezekiel Owusu Afriyie, Okyem Aboakye, on the other hand, said the property belonged to him, stressing that the house was auctioned to him by a Kumasi High Court.
Wontumi valued the house, which he is now occupying at Daaban in Kumasi, at $4.5 million dollars, adding that he had even done additional works on it.
But Daniel Aboagye, who had vowed to eject Wontumi from the house, is convinced any other documents covering the property, apart from the ones in his possession, are fake.
Reports indicated the Bantama MP had secured an ejection order from the court, and accompanied by a bailiff and some uniformed policemen, tried to eject Wontumi from the house over the weekend.
The paper gathered that Wontumi’s refusal to vacate the house nearly led to a violent clash between his bodyguards and the police.
