Wontumi Snubs Asare Bediako…Over Apology Request
FROM ALL indications, the growing animosity between Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka ‘Wontumi’ and Asare Bediako, will linger on for some time.
This is because an attempt to restore peace between Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman, Asare Bediako, has hit the rocks.
A Kumasi-based Nhyira FM offered its platform to Wontumi on Monday to apologize to Asare Bediako, who had accused him (Wontumi) of insulting him.
But Wontumi, who was speaking in an interview with the station, refused to apologize and ended the interview abruptly.
Asare Bediako Rising Fast
Asare Bediako, the Asokwa Constituency Chairman of the NPP, has made his intentions clear to contest Wontumi for the regional chairman position.
The 64-year-old man has complained that Wontumi hurled unprintable words at him when Okay FM in Accra, granted him (Wontumi) an interview last week.
Speaking on Nhyira FM on Monday, Asare Bediako said he is old enough to be the father of Wontumi therefore he was surprised that Wontumi decided to insult him on radio.
Asare Bediako, who has been the Asokwa Constituency Chairman of the NPP for 24 years, stated that he would forgive Wontumi if he apologized to him.
Wontumi
The host of the show, Kofi Asante Enin, therefore called Wontumi on phone and asked him if he would apologize to Asare Bediako to restore peace among them.
Wontumi, without responding to the request for an apology, rather answered a question he has not been asked. All he said was: “I did what I was supposed to do to make the polling station polls successful” and he ended the Interview.
