Wontumi Sprays Free Cash

FREE MONEY distribution exercise, started by the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, has been extended.

Nicknamed ‘Wontumi’, the NPP kingpin started the money distribution exercise about two months ago, as callers into his Wontumi Radio are given an amount of GHC10 each.

The registered mobile money number of the caller is taken and an amount of GHC10 is sent to that number after the person has called into the morning show programme of Wontumi Radio.

Initially, it was suspected that the money distribution exercise was a move by the Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman to make the Wontumi Radio, owned by him, very popular.

Other people, especially political connoisseurs, however, opined that Wontumi was distributing the money as a way of wooing people to vote for the NPP in the 2020 elections.

Wontumi has so far not commented on the rationale behind the money distribution, thereby giving room for people, from all walks of life, to continue to speculate.

The money distribution exercise was supposed to last for at least two months. Several people from Ashanti Region and even beyond, have benefitted from the exercise, so far.

Meanwhile, Host of the Wontumi Radio Morning Show, Oheneba, has announced that the money distribution exercise has been extended till the end of the year.

According to him, Wontumi, owner of the newly formed Wontumi Radio, who is financing the exercise, has decided to extend the largesse for more people to benefit from it.

Oheneba stated that the management of the new radio station is highly impressed about the patronage of the money distribution exercise, hence the extension period.
