The internet has been hit with news of the split of music duo, Wutah, which comprises of Kobby and Afriyie once again. Kobby Wutah, a member of the group took to his social media page to announce the group’s split.
“I have a strong message to you all. I want to tell everyone that the duo Wutah as you know it, we are done. It’s never coming back again. I’ve made my stand, Wutah is over and it’s never coming back again. Nobody should ask me about Wutah again” – he wrote on Instagram.
He indicated that he’d taken a personal decision and that would be binding. He used the opportunity to thank everyone who had supported the Wutah Kobby brand for him to achieve greatness.
According to him, any individual who is willing to acquire his shares in the music group should see him so they can discuss business, as he’s open to anything that will bring money to him.
Wutah came into the limelight in 2004 when it contested for the Nescafe Africa Revelation music competition in Accra and came second to Praye. The name Wutah is a Hausa word which means fire.
Their debut album, ‘Anamontuo’ which had songs like ‘Adonko’, ‘Goosie Gander’ and ‘Big Dreams’ earned them eleven nominations, including The Most Popular Song of the Year, Album Of the Year and Artiste of the Year in the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
In 2009, they separated and started recording their solo projects. Afriyie then released songs like ‘I Do,’ ‘Love of My Life,’ ‘Tontonti,’ ‘Everlasting Love’ and ‘Here to Stay.’ Kobby also released ‘Chiochio,’ ‘Pii Por Pii,’ ‘Warning,’ and ‘Father for All’, among others.
