Actress, Yvonne Nelson, a former crusader against ‘dumsor’ under the erstwhile John Dramani Mahama administration has threatened to organise a demonstration against the Akufo-Addo government if the current power supply challenges are not fixed.
In a tweet on Tuesday, she wrote: “#DUMSORMUSTSTOP !!!! We are gonna hit the streets soon if it doesn’t stop!”
His post comes a day after the Energy ministry downplayed calls for a timetable in the ongoing power cuts in the country.
The recent bout of challenges in electricity supply comes barely two weeks after the Energy Minister John Peter Amewu assured that the situation will stabilize in five days.
Addressing a news conference Monday morning, the deputy Energy Minister, William Owuraku Aidoo, said enough measures have been put in place to deal with the situation.
In May 2015 during the John Mahama-led administration, Ms Nelson organised a demonstration dubbed ‘Dumsor must stop’ to pile pressure on the then-government to solve the energy crisis which had plagued the nation for years.
Several celebrities including actors and actresses joined the demonstration to call for an end to the problem.
