Zongo Group Disowns Asamponghene Killer

THE woes of Sadat Mohammed, aka ‘Alhaji’, the suspected killer of the Asamponghene, Oheneba Kwadwo Aforduor, seems to be far from over as the Concerned Zongo Youth, a vibrant pressure group in the Kumasi Zongo, has publicly disowned him and subsequently called for the laws to deal with him.

The group is worried that a few people among them had time and again engaged in illegalities, and thereby, succeeded in defaming the entire Zongo community.

“Unfortunately, there is a misconception that Zongo community is a place of abode for criminals. To this end, we disassociate ourselves from any person or group of persons related to Zongo progeny that commits crime, more so, the heinous crime allegedly committed by the suspect, Mr. Sadat”.

Addressing a press conference in Kumasi on Monday, Jawad Madugu, spokesperson of the group, condemned the killing of the late traditional leader, who was a servant of the Asantehene.

“The Concerned Zongo Youth, with regret, expresses our deepest condolences to His Royal Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and the entire Asante Kingdom”, he told journalists.

Jawad also commended the security agencies for the swift manner in which the suspected murderer was apprehended.

“Sincerely speaking we commend the security agencies, especially, Ghana Police Service, for their swift action in apprehending the prime suspect and the wonderful investigation done so far”.
